Dry needling

Dry needling is an injection technique performed by a physiotherapist, in which a thin needle is used to release trigger points (muscle knots). The method is based on an anatomical framework rather than Chinese medicine.

Dry needling is used to treat muscle and fascial pain, neck pain, migraine, and overuse conditions. The treatment is often combined with other physiotherapy to achieve the best result.

The method has become rapidly more common, and the evidence for its effectiveness in treating chronic muscle pain has strengthened.
