Geriatric physiotherapy

Geriatric physiotherapy is intended for older adults and supports mobility, balance and fall prevention. The goal is to maintain functional ability for as long as possible and enable an independent daily life.

Common treatment areas in older adults include osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, balance disorders and rehabilitation after hip fractures. A geriatric physiotherapist also takes cognitive function and fall risk into account in the assessment.

Group-based exercise can be effective in preventing falls and supporting social functioning.
