Nerve compression symptoms refer to a condition in which a peripheral nerve is compressed, for example by muscles, bones, or connective tissues. A nerve entrapment can appear in many different ways depending on where the nerve is compressed. Typical symptoms include numbness, tingling, pins and needles, loss of sensation, and pain that can radiate, for example, to the hand, fingers, leg, or toes. In some cases, muscle weakness or clumsiness may also occur. The most common nerve entrapments in Finland are carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve compression at the elbow, and sciatica, in which a nerve root in the back is compressed.
