Lymphatic therapy
Lymphatic therapy treats lymphedema, the accumulation of fluid in tissues caused by dysfunction of the lymphatic system. The most common causes are cancer surgery, radiation therapy, or a congenital lymphatic disorder.
A lymphatic therapist uses manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, and exercise to reduce swelling. The treatment often requires long-term commitment and independent use of compression bandages.
Manual lymphatic drainage is widely permitted and is well suited for treating lymphedema after breast cancer treatment.
