Occupational health
Occupational healthcare is a statutory service that supports employees’ health and work ability throughout their careers. The occupational health physician, nurse, and psychologist form a multidisciplinary team that treats both work-related health issues and common illnesses.
Occupational health visits include health checkups, assessment of work-related strain factors, and planning rehabilitation or work adjustments when an illness becomes prolonged. Early intervention in sick leave is one of the most important goals.
In Finland, employers must arrange preventive occupational healthcare for all their employees. Often the employer’s insurance also covers general practitioner and specialist services.
