Psychology

A psychologist is a mental health specialist with university-level training in psychology. A psychologist performs psychological assessments, neuropsychological examinations, and provides psychological counseling and support.

A psychologist evaluates cognitive functions, personality, and mental health, and if necessary refers the patient onward to appropriate treatment. Neuropsychological testing is especially important when investigating learning and memory difficulties as well as suspected ADHD.

In the private sector, you can see a psychologist without a referral, which speeds up access to help. Psychologists often work in cooperation with psychotherapists and psychiatrists.
