Elbow and wrist problems
Elbow and wrist problems are common, especially among people who do a lot of repetitive manual work or use a computer extensively. Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) causes pain on the outer side of the elbow, while golfer’s elbow causes pain on the inner side. Carpal tunnel syndrome causes numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hands, especially at night.
In the early stages, a physiotherapist treats these problems by modifying load, exercise, and manual therapy. Dry needling and shockwave therapy can enhance treatment. An orthopaedist assesses the need for surgery if conservative treatment is not enough. Carpal tunnel surgery is a short and effective procedure in severe cases.
